John,
Colonial violence is at the root of a three-front global crisis: global
inequality, climate devastation, and constant conflict.
The U.S. and the Global North have a clear opportunity to invest in
climate solutions that benefit us all. But instead of investing in climate
solutions, the U.S. government aims to spend nearly $1 trillion this year
on the Pentagon budget alone.
John, our fight for a safe, livable planet starts by
understanding the deep relationships between colonialism, militarism, and
the climate crisis.

On Tuesday’s webinar, Margaret Kwateng from Grassroots Global Justice
Alliance will moderate a must-watch panel between Aisha Mansour from Honor
the Earth, Monaeka “Naek” Flores from Pruheti Litekyan: Save Ritidian, and
Maurice Carney from Friends of the Congo.
Together, we will talk about the ongoing militarization in the Middle
East, the Pacific, and on the African continent. We’ll assess why
environmental justice is key to our collective security and how we can
best align with resisting Indigenous communities at the frontline of this
climate crisis.
This event is co-hosted by 350 US International Solidarity Working Group
and the National Priorities Project at the Institute for Policy Studies as
part of the Global Week of Action for Peace and Climate Justice.
