Urgent: Help us DEMAND the National Institutes of Health release 26 chimps before it’s too late! Double your lifesaving impact TODAY! ([link removed])

Friend,

Melody is a 44-year-old female chimp who was rescued from the Alamogordo Primate Facility, a government research laboratory, in 2017. Since being moved to Chimp Haven, a forest sanctuary specifically designed to meet the needs of traumatized laboratory chimps, Melody has completely transformed from a withdrawn shell of a chimpanzee to a sassy superstar.

Twenty-six chimps currently housed at the same facility Melody was rescued from deserve the life that Melody now has, but the National Institutes of Health continues to refuse to release them to Chimp Haven. Even though a court has found that NIH violated federal law by keeping the chimps at the lab, the agency is still refusing to move these poor animals to sanctuary. We need to keep up the pressure on NIH and demand they reverse this harmful and illegal decision, and there’s no time to lose.

Will you donate $20 or more now, before September 30, to help the Humane Society Legislative Fund keep fighting to end neglect and cruelty against chimps like Melody and protect all animals who need us? When you give today, your gift will be MATCHED up to $12,500—fueling twice the lifesaving impact for vulnerable animals. ([link removed])

And don’t worry, even though donations that surpass $12,500 will not be matched, they’ll still go toward our work to protect all animals from harm.

When she was confined to a sterile laboratory, Melody couldn’t show her playful personality and express natural chimp behaviors. Now, she can lounge in the grass and enjoy the sun. She can trust her caregivers to bring her treats, like the juicy bell peppers she loves, instead of subjecting her to toxic tests. And she can joke and poke fun at sanctuary staff without fear.

Chimps like Melody are charming, intelligent animals who don’t deserve to be locked away and left to deteriorate after years of being subjected to painful experiments. That’s why we can’t stop fighting for the 26 chimps being held by the NIH. Eighteen chimps have already died waiting to be released to sanctuary, so we must apply serious pressure now, before it’s too late for the remaining chimps. To do that, we need your help before our next big deadline on September 30, friend, so please: Make a donation to HSLF now—every dollar will be DOUBLED up to $12,500 while this match opportunity lasts —so we can help chimps heal from harm and protect animals everywhere from exploitation and abuse. Thank you for your compassionate advocacy for all animals.
