Each state has unique needs, and our goal is to help you find the best way to get involved. This election season, there is a role for every We The Action lawyer. 21+ HOURS

Join as a Volunteer Leader for Nonpartisan National Voter Hotline (REMOTE)

Election Protection Coalition

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law seeks legal volunteers to serve in leadership roles (captains and leads) for the non-partisan Election Protection national voter hotline (1-866-Our-Vote.) The hotline aids voters with problems and guides them throughout the voting process. The year-round hotline is staffed by trained legal volunteers and is operated and managed by the Lawyers’ Committee. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

6—10 HOURS

Assist With Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic- No Prior Experience Needed

Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project

Buffalo, NY has the 6th highest percentage of low-income residents out of all large cities in the US. Residents are in urgent need of assistance to resolve income-tax related issues with the IRS. Some of these issues include negotiation of tax debt, levies and liens, worker classification issues, tax credit repayment issues, and tax credit denials. Erie County Bar needs lawyers to assist low-income taxpayer clients with tax-related legal issues. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

Help Youth Sports Organization Regain Tax-Exempt Status

Get Everything U

Get Everything U works to teach student-athletes a variety of skills, supporting and engaging emerging student-athletes to be successful both on and off the playing field. They need a lawyer to help them in getting their tax-exempt status reinstated, ensuring legal compliance. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

6—10 HOURS

Help Ceremonial Dance Organization Apply for 501(c)(3) Status

BraveHeart Sun Dance

BraveHeart Sun Dance offers support to Sun Dance events for 8 tribes in the Southwest. They are looking to provide financial support for dancers to finish their training, and they have donors, but need a lawyer to help them obtain 501(c)(3) status. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state.
