I went on CNN to call out the far-right’s use of the word DEI as a racist dog whistle (because it is). And right-winger Charlie Kirk and his bigoted buddies immediately attacked me. Just look what they’re saying on social media:

We need to call the far-right’s use of DEI for exactly what it is: a brazenly racist attack on Black people. They want these attacks to cost me my seat, so I need a huge surge of support behind me – 1,000 donations before midnight – to make Charlie Kirk and the far-right’s racist attacks BACKFIRE. >> ([link removed])

Look, I’m an Afro-Latino, Gen Z organizer, child of immigrants who always stands up to racism – I know I’m their worst nightmare.

But I also know this: When extremists are attacking you for calling out racism, you’re doing something right. Because they only push this hard when they think our movement is a threat to theirs.
