DeJoy has a multimillion-dollar investment in a major Postal Service contractor and was Donald Trump’s handpicked choice to fill the post.
As finance chair of the Republican National Committee, he raised and contributed millions to Republican candidates across the country.
He was the subject of an FBI investigation for an alleged straw donor scheme that pressured his company’s employees to donate to Republican candidates in exchange for salary bonus kickbacks.
He banned overtime, cut staff, consolidated power, and decommissioned mail-sorting machines right before the 2020 election.
He has raised prices and reduced service. He even attempted to purchase 90% gasoline-powered vehicles for the Post Office’s new fleet until Congress passed legislation mandating the USPS purchase electric vehicles.
