Louisiana, 2022:

Map manipulators dilute Black voting power.

The map violates the Voting Rights Act.

Our valiant affiliate — the National Redistricting Foundation — initiates a court case to fight back in court.

Victory! The gerrymandered maps are struck down.

They go back to the drawing board.

This time, Black voters receive two opportunity districts.

February 2024:

A group calling themselves "non-African-American voters" sue to stop these new maps, in a completely new court

The new court, the one chosen by these non-African-American voters, sides with them. .

Setback! The new maps are struck down

May 2024:

Our affiliate works to join legal appeals against this setback. The U.S. Supreme Court says the new maps will stay through the 2024 election.

November 2024:
