Today, the DCCC is highlighting their second round of “Red Alert” candidates – Democrats who really need resources in order to deliver wins in their competitive districts.
I’m proud to be a co-chair of the Red Alert program because I know firsthand exactly how critical a Democratic majority is if we want to make meaningful progress for the American people in Congress.
These candidates are in some of the toughest races in the country, and with less than 50 days until Election Day, they need our help.
Frontline Member Rep. Yadira Caraveo was one of the closest Democratic victories we saw in 2022, winning by fewer than 2,000 votes. And challenger Adam Gray lost CA-13 by just over 500 votes last cycle – but with your help, we can push him across the finish line this year.
Rep. Susan Wild in PA-07 represents one of the most competitive toss-up districts in the country, and Derek Tran’s Orange County district was just moved by Cook Political Report from “Lean Republican” to “Toss Up”.
Rep. Marcy Kaptur is the longest-serving woman in Congress whose district got severely gerrymandered during redistricting. She’s now running in a district Trump won – against an anti-abortion MAGA extremist (much like my own opponent!).
Dark-money GOP groups have already committed to spend millions on air time against Rep. Gabe Vasquez in NM-02 and Rep. Jared Golden in ME-02, and have poured money into Michigan in an effort to sway the votes Curtis Hertel and Kristen McDonald Rivet are working hard to win.
After winning a competitive six-way primary in Arizona’s 1st District, Amish Shah is working hard to raise funds against an opponent with a significant cash advantage. In 2022, the Republican incumbent in AZ-01 won by less than a single percentage point, so this is a top pickup opportunity for House Democrats.
ALL of these candidates are running in incredibly competitive districts – likely among the tightest races in the country – where your funds will have an immediate impact:

They are making decisions about spending on TV in some of the most expensive media markets in the country;
- They are up against dark-money Republican super PACs that are poised to spend millions in these districts;

And they need to build up resources to get their message out to more voters and secure these key Democratic victories.
