John,
In what world does $3.00 an hour plus tips equal a living wage? Certainly not where I live in Columbia, South Carolina.
In 2024, there isn't one place in America where someone could get by on such low wages. But somehow, workers at Waffle House are still being paid subminimum tipped wages, all while Waffle House executives rake in billions of dollars in profits.
It's not right. That's why we launched a ground-breaking complaint against Waffle House with the Department of Labor for failing to pay servers fairly. Sign on to show your support >> [[link removed]]
Waffle House continually tries to short-change servers by assigning servers non-tipped work, which includes jobs like cleaning the store, washing dishes, wiping windows, and even cleaning the parking lot. During that time, many servers are still paid at the tipped wage rate without the opportunity to earn tips.

This isn't the first time Waffle House has exploited workers to pad their profits. We're also fighting against a mandatory meal credit deduction that costs workers an estimate of nearly $30 million dollars a year.
Waffle House restaurants are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That means that servers have worked through hurricanes, dangerous heat, violent customers, and more. And you're telling me that Waffle House doesn't think we're worth more than poverty wages?
Servers are now filing a formal complaint with the Department of Labor over allegations that Waffle House has committed wage theft – and calling on supporters like you to spread the word. Let's hold Waffle House accountable for worker exploitation! Add your name in solidarity with Waffle House workers >> [[link removed]]
In solidarity,
