What’s going on? 
On August 16th, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finally released the much-anticipated GGRF funds. We’ve been eagerly awaiting this moment since the grant recipients were chosen in April, as they’ll help generate climate solutions nationwide.

Why is this important? 
Green technology is expensive, and so far, only the wealthy have been able to benefit from tax breaks and incentives for renewable energy fully. The GGRF will change that by providing local communities across the country with access to affordable clean energy projects, home upgrades, and green economy jobs. From lower energy bills to revitalized neighborhoods, the impacts of GGRF funds will soon be felt by all Americans. 

What’s to come?
The GGRF specifically aims to support those typically left behind in the climate fight, and it’s staying true to that mission. Out of the $27 billion, more than $20 billion is earmarked for low-income and disadvantaged communities. The Solar For All program will also direct 100% of its funds to underserved populations, aiming to provide community solar power to 900,000 households nationwide.

Now that the grant recipients have received their funds, expect to hear more about upcoming project plans and developments in the next few months. We’ll keep you updated as announcements roll in.
