Come meet Ivan Posey ([link removed]) this Sunday, September 22, 4-6 pm at 3855 Boyles Hill Road, Jackson. Posey is running to replace Freedom Caucus member Sarah Penn in House District 33. An educator and former Eastern Shoshone Business Council member, Posey would bring both a respectful approach to governance and a tribal perspective that reflects HD33's populace which is majority Indigenous. He told Wyofile ([link removed]) that "along with being members of tribes, reservation denizens are citizens of Wyoming and the United States. And I think in this day and age that we do need a voice in state politics.” The Wyoming Legislature currently includes a single Indigenous lawmaker, Republican Sen. Affie Ellis, who is not running for reelection, so there could be no Native American representation come January.
