Tim Sheehy, a Republican running for U.S. Senate, is blanketing Montana with one of the most shameless political ads I’ve ever seen — and that’s saying a lot!

Sheehy’s ad claims that his opponent, Democratic Senator Jon Tester, “supported huge cuts to Social Security”. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Tester has a long record of fighting to strengthen Social Security and Medicare. He says that “Even entertaining the idea of gutting Social Security and Medicare is a slap in the face to every senior who has worked their entire life to earn these benefits.” He has absolutely NEVER voted to cut Social Security, and he never will. And he has a 93% lifetime score from our friends at the Alliance for Retired Americans.

Meanwhile, Tim Sheehy is calling for “pure privatization” of health care in America. That means he wants to destroy Medicare and Medicaid.

Sheehy is backed by the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity, which wants to slash Social Security and raise the retirement age. They are pouring money into Montana to spread Sheehy’s lies.

Montana’s Senate race is a top priority for Social Security Works PAC because we know how critical it is for the future of our earned benefits. But right now, poll after poll is showing Sheehy in the lead.

Sometime in the next decade, Congress will have to vote to either cut Social Security benefits or to protect and strengthen benefits by requiring the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share. One of those wealthy Americans? Tim Sheehy, who has a net worth of at least $74 million.

We need to make sure that Jon Tester, not Sheehy, is in the Senate when that vote takes place.
