Tara Reade says 'creepy' voice messages, online harassment targeting her, family

Posted: 03 May 2020 06:44 AM PDT

Tara Reade says she is facing an onslaught of online harassment and is concerned about the safety of her family after becoming the center of a political firestorm over her sexual-assault allegation against her former boss Joe Biden.

"I find it astounding -- the hypocrisy that Democrats are talking about women being able to tell their story safely," Reade told Fox News on Saturday. "I'm a Democrat, a lifelong Democrat, but yet here I am trying to talk about my history with Joe Biden and I'm just the target of online harassment."

Reade said fake social media accounts have been created to impersonate her, pointing to one Facebook account with uploaded personal pictures of her and her family, and posts not authored by her.

A screenshot of one post was shared on Twitter by an apparent Biden supporter named Naomi Block, falsely accusing Reade of "deliberately tossing [Christine Blasey Ford] under the dang bus," referring to a fake quote from the account.

The Facebook page, which was using the handle "@TaraReada," also listed a fake website that used Reade's full name.

Facebook did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment regarding if that page violates the platform's policies.

Reade told Fox News that the home address of a family member was plastered online and that person received four "creepy" calls on Friday night, all within 30 minutes, from an unknown number.

In two voice messages obtained by Fox News, a caller appeared to have posed as a journalist seeking to speak with Reade.

"Hi Ms. Reade, this is Dave Johnson from the Observer, a small New York newspaper," the voice says before laughing uncontrollably, later saying "Jeffrey Epstein didn't kill himself" and "Trump 2020."

In the second voice message, which was the third attempt at calling Reade's family member, the caller says: "Hey Tara, this is Dave Johnson with the Observer and I would really love, I'd really appreciate a call back so we can discuss your new powerful allegation against Vice President Biden. I think you're setting a tone and underscoring a double standard put forth by the Me Too movement, so I'd really appreciate it if you could just call me back, give me a couple of quick questions."

Reade has also received numerous threatening messages, she said. In one email obtained by Fox News, someone named "Linda Dubois" called Reade a "f---ing whore" and a "disgrace to womanhood" for coming forward with her claims against Biden.

"You are a rip-roaring b---h and the great majority of Americans don’t believe you anyhow... I hope you drop dead," the person wrote.

One prominent Biden ally was also apparently aiming for Reade. Jon Cooper, a former chair of the Democratic Coalition, questioned if Reade was "unbalanced" or "was driven by malicious motives."

"This is an example [of] what I am dealing with in addition to the threats and harassment online," Reade tweeted about Cooper.

"This is something that really has to stop and I'm just wondering where this is coming from," Reade told Fox News. "Are these just fanatic supporters? And if so, what does that say about our Democratic voters? Why are they targeting me when the party line is supposed to be allowing people to be safe? Why are they targeting my family and myself and making my family frightened?"

She added: "It creates barriers for survivors to want to come forward and talk about difficult things that have happened. And in my case, talking about how Joe Biden sexually harassed and sexually assaulted me is very excruciating and enough by itself, but then to be targeted and harassed and have my whole family targeted and harassed online by people that call themselves his supporters is not only just upsetting, it's frightening."

On Friday, Biden finally broke his silence about the 1993 allegations made by Reade, telling MSNBC that the sexual harassment and assault she claims "never happened."

Vicious Tyrant Trump Wants To Let People Leave Their Homes

WASHINGTON, D.C.—By all accounts, President Donald Trump has now gone completely mad with power. In a press briefing, he laid out his insidious plan.

“When I’m done with this country, everyone will be able to leave their houses whenever they want and do whatever they want,” Trump told the press with an evil grin. “They’ll be able to peaceably assemble in whatever size groups they desire! Muhahaha!”

“You’re a mad man!” a CNN reporter cried. “You don’t have the power to let people have freedom! You’re a tyrant!”

“My power is absolute!” Trump screamed. “No one can stop me! Soon everyone will be able to go back to work and buy whatever they feel like from the store even if bureaucrats don’t like it!”

“Noooo!” cried an MSNBC reporter. “You have to arrest people who don’t do what the government tells them! Who do you think you are? Someone stop him!”

But no one came to stop him, and Trump just laughed an evil laugh.

It is unknown if anything can be done about Trump, but many hope that the Constitution has enough checks and balances to keep one man from giving out freedom by fiat.

DeSantis Chooses Facts Over Fear on Coronavirus

Congratulations to Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.

After being excoriated by Democrats and the media for being cautious and not ordering draconian state-wide lockdowns as have many other state Democratic governors, he debunked many media-driven doom and gloom predictions of the coronavirus pandemic's impacts on  Florida.

On April 29, the day after he met with President Trump regarding Florida’s progress in fighting COVID-19, he held a press conference to outline his "Safe, Smart, Step-by-Step" plan to re-open most of Florida.

He correctly declared, "Fear is our enemy. We need to focus on facts and not fear."

DeSantis then cited several examples of how the media publicized COVID-19 models fostering fear:

—The Washington Examiner"Florida Could Be the Next New York in the Coronavirus Outbreak."

FLAPOL"Demographer Says Glorida Could Be 'Like an Uber-Italy' During Coronavirus Outbreak."

Tampa Bay Times" . . . the model predicts 465,699 people will be hospitalized because of COVID-19 . . . by April 24 but there will only be 36,384 hospital beds available by that date."

—The Orlando Sentinel: "Projections say the state could run out of ICU beds by April 14."

Spectrum News’ Bay News 9 (Tampa Bay): "There will likely come a point when there will be no more ventilators to shuffle around, and when that happens, what's next?"

The preceding serve as excellent examples of fostering COVID-19 fear.

DeSantis promptly shot down this media hype with the latest data from Florida’s Department of Health and the Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA).

He gave Floridians and the nation the real facts:

  • New York had 117 fatalities per 100,000, and Florida had only 5.2, lower than eight other states.

  • Italy had 45.8 fatalities per 100,000 compared to Florida’s 5.2.

  • As of April 24, there were only 2,111 hospitalizations, 463,588 less than the 465,699 than the media publicized model predicted.

  • Florida’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed availability is 36.5%.

  • Florida has never had a shortage of ventilators and currently has a 74.6% availability.

You have to look far and wide to find extensive coverage of these facts, which DeSantis laid out in detail with charts in a presentation that lasted nearly an hour.

Unfortunately, much of the media and many Democratic politicians rarely focus on the positive things happening in Florida (and other states) with pro-Trump governors like Greg Abbott of Texas.

Their preference seems to be media darling Democrats such as New York's Andrew Cuomo and California's Gavin Newsom.

Or, GOP governors like Mike DeWine of Ohio and Larry Hogan of Maryland, whose shutdown actions are similar to some of their Democratic colleagues.

The major media wants us to believe that it is concerned about the public and the COVID-19 virus. However, its apparent goal is to use whatever it can to attack the president and those governors, like DeSantis, whom he supports and who support him.

Many believe there are some Democratic leaders — and their allies in the press — who either want shutdowns to continue; or, if ended, result in subsequent waves of virus cases.

Why?

They believe that continued economic pain will allow them to defeat Trump — forget the nation and the people.

DeSantis is winning for Florida in the fight against COVID-19, though his critics don't dare admit it.

When he refused to follow the knee-jerk lead of some governors who immediately ordered state-wide lockdowns or refused requests of media critics, he was accused of doing "too little too late."

Now that he has released his plan to re-open the Sunshine State, you can bet that some critics will say he is "doing too much too soon."
