Dear , What if defeating [t]rump*, Republicans and property taxes have something in common? For almost four years I've asked - How could America elect a blatant liar for President? We'll end his reign in 2020, but to stop the next con-man and all Republicans, we must teach people to distinguish lies from the truth, fact from fiction, and how to think critically. This means we need the best schools and large investments in education for all. No surprise, this is overwhelmingly supported by Americans. First, we need universal preschool. Only four out of ten toddlers go to publicly funded pre-K. We have to fix that, because early learning sets young ones up for a life of success. Next, we extend learning from 12th grade to 16th grade, with free public college or vocational training for every single person who wants it. Imagine - what if the formula for a coronavirus vaccine is locked away in the mind of someone who couldn't afford college? Democracy only flourishes if our people are free-thinkers, so naturally, Democracies value public education. Plus, if we want Democrats to win more, better education will help. Republicans know this - so they always slash education budgets – if Americans can't think for themselves, Republican lies are sold a lot easier. Yet, our schools have gotten less and less from the federal budget over the last decade, straining our states. Every state funds schools with property taxes, so zip codes actually determine the quality of education for children. New Jersey only receives 4% of our education budget from Congress, and that's exactly why property taxes in New Jersey have doubled in the last 20 years. The truth is, for better schools, more teachers at better pay, and smaller classrooms, our federal government must step in. It’s time for better schools everywhere, to lower property taxes for all, and to fund public schools from the federal budget. As a father and product of public schools, I'm committed to increasing investments in opportunity for all, so all students have the best chance to grow and prosper. I’m up against a 32-year incumbent, who’s had the chance to fix the education system. We need fresh ideas, a new vision, and it’s time that we take this Congressional seat in another direction – forward - for opportunity for all. Will you please help us reach our fundraising goal? We only need $3,680 to fund all of our expenses for May. In Solidarity, Russ Cirincione P.S. Learn more by going to the “Investing in Public Education” section on my website.
