Friend of MCV,

The November 5 election is right around the corner!

Elections shape the leaders and policies that determine how – or if – we fight climate change, conserve lands and waters, and safeguard our democracy. The stakes are high this November – and we’re excited to share a few ways you can take action to make your voice heard.

How to register and vote on November 5
The surest way to vote is with a plan. Fortunately, in no small part due to the hard work of MCV and our members, Maine makes it incredibly easy to vote. Whether you’re new to voting, new to Maine, or just need a reminder about the location of your polling place, we’ve got you covered. Read our blog post for all the information and resources you need to register and vote in Maine. [[link removed]]

MCV Action Fund endorsements
We’re excited to announce our second round of endorsements for the Maine State Legislature! Our endorsees are people who are committed to tackling the climate crisis, protecting the environment, and strengthening our democracy.

They recognize that a clean environment and vibrant economy go hand-in-hand, and will work to protect the air, land, and water that Mainers love. Click here to view our second round of endorsements [[link removed]] and here for the full list of candidates we’re endorsing in 2024 [[link removed]].

Phone bank with us!
We know that the planet and our democracy cannot wait, and that’s why we’re taking our political work one step further this year. We’re recruiting volunteers who share our commitment to electing a conservation majority at the state level to join us in making tens of thousands of calls to voters between now and Election Day.

We need just 7 more volunteers to join our first phone bank on Zoom Monday, September 23rd at 5:30 PM . Can you join us? [[link removed]]

If you’ve never phone banked, now is a great time to start! Our team will be there to share information about our endorsed candidates, how to talk to voters, and answer any questions you may have before we get to calling.

Write a letter to the editor
Are you interested in making your voice heard, but prefer to do so in writing? Please join us for a Maine Conservation Voices storytelling workshop to write a letter to the editor (LTE) of your local newspaper in support of environmental champions running for the Maine State Legislature! We’ll gather virtually on Thursday, October 10th from 12-1 PM to go over how to write a good LTE to advocate for the candidates you want to see in office.

Letters to the editor of your local newspaper are an important tool in advocating for candidates who support protecting the environment and our democracy and acting on climate. We’ll go through the process together to make it as easy as possible – please sign up to join us here! [[link removed]]
