Nine thousand more teachers. Half a million more people with clean drinking water. One hundred thousand more children in school.
That’s the difference debt cancellation would make in Ghana right now, according to new research. [1]
Before the election, supporters like you helped win a commitment from Labour to “tackling unsustainable debt”. friend, will you stand with me by signing my letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, calling on him to make good on this promise?
The more of us that sign, the stronger our call will be. Thousands have already taken action – will you add your name today?
Ghana is one of 54 countries in debt crisis globally. Every day I see the devastating impact of the crisis on people’s lives. Millions are being denied access to basic public services such as education and healthcare - all so that private lenders can protect their vast profits at our expense.
In the UK, there is a big opportunity to change this. Nine out of ten debts owed by lower-income countries to banks, hedge funds and oil traders are overseen by UK law. That means that a change in the law here could help countries like mine get debt cancelled.
Will you sign my letter to the Prime Minister today? It only takes two minutes.
