John,

Did you hear what President Obama said about fair maps? He was talking about the 2022 midterms and explaining why the “red wave” never crashed.

If you remember, heading into the 2022 midterms, the media narrative suggested that Trump’s MAGA allies up and down the ballot were going to sweep state and local offices — and even potentially secure control of both the House and the Senate.

But Republicans failed to clinch the Senate and only won back control of the House with a narrow majority.

President Obama said, “What a lot of people didn’t mention (after the election) was because of the work that [Attorney General] Eric [Holder] and NDRC and others had done, we just had a better map. That’s part of the reason that we did not see a red wave. It was that maps were fairer and, as a consequence, better reflected the will of the people.”

If you, like President Obama, know fair maps are the foundation of our democracy, can you make your very first donation right now and strengthen our fight against gerrymandering? [[link removed]]

President Obama also said, “Politics in America is and always has been, not simply a matter of rhetoric and joy and excitement. It is also nuts and bolts exercises of power.”

The state-level leaders we’re working to help elect will be the nuts and bolts that keep our democracy together and hold the line against Trump’s allies and their MAGA policies.

Their work is not glitzy — and the work you’re doing to help elect them can be unseen and pretty thankless. (So in case you haven’t heard today: Thank you so much.)

Unfair maps and unfair rules lead to unjust election results. But together, we can secure fair maps and fair rules that will lead to a more just and representative democracy.

You’re on the right side of history — and President Barack Obama is standing right there with you. Please consider making your first donation today to support this important work: [[link removed]]
