If it scares or concerns you that a white nationalist is the current
speaker of the House, imagine how dangerous Mike Johnson will become if
Donald Trump wins the presidency—which, if the election were today, is
more likely than not.^1,2
So much of the focus around the upcoming election is on the top of the
ticket—and it makes sense because the stakes are so very high—but MAGA
Republicans could sweep the House, Senate, and presidency. They already
control the Supreme Court. Then we'd really be in trouble.
Roll Call reported this week: "In the shadow of the presidential race sit
two competitive fights for the Senate and the House, and the latest race
rating changes give Republicans a more straightforward path to sweeping
control of both chambers."^3
John, we absolutely cannot allow MAGA Republicans to control
all branches of the federal government. That's why MoveOn's election work
has focused on key House and Senate races as well as the presidency. And
today we want to ask you for your help supporting four strong progressive
House candidates locked in very tight races.
Democrats need a net gain of four seats to end MAGA control of the House.
And these four races are critical. We'll get into the details below but
first want to ask:

All four of the Democratic candidates are strong progressives, and MoveOn
members in their districts overwhelmingly endorsed them. Two of the races
(CO-8 and NE-2) are considered "toss-ups," and two are considered "lean
Republican" (AZ-06 and NY-19).^4
Kirsten Engel (AZ-06) is an environmental lawyer and co-directs University
of Arizona's Environmental Law Program. As a state legislator, Engel
fought against education cuts, worked for criminal justice reform, and
advocated for voting rights and abortion rights. She's running for
Congress to fight for quality education, clean energy, and democratic
rights.^5 This district also is critical for Vice President Harris.
Dr. Yadira Caraveo (CO-08), a pediatrician, legislator, and advocate for
middle- and working-class families, was inspired by her parents' dream of
a better life. Her parents emigrated from Mexico to Colorado, where they
raised their four children with strong values of hard work and community.
As a state legislator, Dr. Caraveo quickly gained a reputation for taking
on tough fights, such as passing legislation to cap insulin prices and
protect renters. Now in Congress, she's been fighting for Colorado
families on health care, housing, climate change, reproductive freedom,
and more.^6
Tony Vargas (NE-02) is a former public school teacher who won "Most
Outstanding Teacher" and "Teacher of the Year." As a state senator, he's
passed legislation to strengthen public schools, improve health care
access, and enhance consumer protections. Vargas is running for Congress
to improve education, health care, and economic opportunities for all.^7
This district also is critical for Vice President Harris.
Josh Riley (NY-19) comes from a working-class family with deep roots in
local factories, and his upbringing in a resilient community shaped his
values of hard work and perseverance. His vision includes strengthening
the middle class, protecting Medicare and Social Security, addressing
climate change, ensuring community safety, and defending democracy.^8
Will you help these four progressive Democrats in their campaigns to
defeat MAGA Republicans? Together, we can take the gavel from Mike Johnson
and prevent a terrifying MAGA sweep of our government. Your donation will
