Consider that she was among only 14 people who endorsed the “Green New Deal.” Among those who signed it were Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, placing Kamala with “the most radical of the radical.” With no consideration of how it would affect the average consumer and how it would work in the real world. We barely have charging stations working after three and a half years. Less than a handful that the public sector was promised. The ones that are functionally working are from the private market, where there is a vested interest in them.
Additionally, the government has pumped cash into the car manufacturers’ accounts while each is drowning in red ink, unable to sell the products needed to make a profit.
Harris “co-sponsored single-payer health care” (i.e., universal health care). It sounded good to some, but the reality is that with no responsibility to hold down costs, this policy drives up costs. Most of the public understands that. They can look at the cost of higher education. Whenever we are given free money or easy-to-get loans, our universities consider this a license to expand programs and raise tuition and fees.
Harris has said she wanted to upgrade every single home and business building in the country for energy efficiency. Another laudable idea, but with no sustainable way to accomplish the goal, it could potentially place a heavy burden on taxpayers and the economy, a factor that should make us all cautious.
More recently, she has advocated for $6,000 annually for childcare, another interesting idea, but Harris has no explanation as to how this government would pay for this government freebie. Nor does she explain, once the policy is established, what would be the determining factors of which families would benefit or how the government would maintain control of the program.
Another recent proposal is that she would give $50,000 to everyone wanting to start a business. Currently, the Small Business Administration is pushing out loans to small businesses faster than ever. We won’t know the success of those startup businesses for several years. Some will be successful; others will fail. Consider these facts about these startups. A high percentage are restaurants. Every week in the Richmond newspaper, there are announcements of new establishments opening in locations that have replaced closed ones. A high percentage appear to be fairly recent immigrants from other countries. They come with high intentions but few assets to be able to repay taxpayer’s money. A new $50,000 incentive might attract a far crowd of takers rather than those who should provide valuable services to the public.
As voters, we should educate ourselves on Harris’ plan to place herself in our government's most important role and as the free world's leader!
