For the past nine months, we’ve been building the campaign to unseat Rep. Lee Zeldin this November. As a scientist and one of his constituents in NY-01, I’ve found appalling his willingness to deny the facts and science at every turn, and on every issue, from climate change to healthcare to gun safety. It’s why I stepped up to run against him.

And now, we are a nation in crisis, and it’s clear that the only way we will move forward is by following the recommendations of public health experts. More than ever before, our leaders must listen to scientists and make policy decisions based on the facts presented.

Scientists can no longer serve only as advisors -- we must have a seat at the table to deliver policy based on the facts.

Our most recent polling data shows that when the people of Suffolk County learn about my background as a scientist, they understand that I am uniquely qualified to analyze the evidence and find solutions that will improve all of our lives. And when they know who I am, we win.

But right now we face a challenging barrier in our path to victory. We need to get my message across to voters, ahead of our June 23 primary, so they know they can trust me to make decisions in the interest of Suffolk County families based on facts and evidence.

My team is working tirelessly to prepare for our first TV ad launch, and right now, we must continue raising the funds that will allow us to saturate the district, which is part of the expensive NY media market. If we do, we absolutely can defeat Lee Zeldin and elect a representative who will lead with science.
