Folks, this past weekend, Senator JD Vance — Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate — went on CNN and openly admitted to lying to the American people to generate headlines and media coverage following Trump’s disastrous debate performance.

So the next day, I joined Jim Acosta to explain my reaction. Here’s what I said:

JD Vance’s behavior reminds me of what it was like to deal with my children when they were two years old — where any attention is good attention. It’s ridiculous.

His claims about Springfield, Ohio, are complete falsehoods. They’re rooted in racism. They’ve been roundly rejected by city officials. Worse, they’ve led to real consequences — bomb threats, school lockdowns, and community members living in fear.

We need real leadership in this country — people who will deliver solutions on the issues we care most about, like affordability, reproductive freedom, and gun safety. Leaders who know that our strength lies in our diversity and that playing to people’s hopes and dreams is much more powerful than playing to their fears and grievances.

People like Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
