In 2013, Texas passed a draconian law that singled out abortion providers for unnecessary medical requirements and threatened to shut down all but 9 or 10 clinics for the entire state.

So we struck back. We filed a lawsuit, fought our way to the Supreme Court, and won a huge victory in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt that reaffirms a woman’s constitutional right to abortion access.

That’s what we do. When anti-choice politicians try to roll back our rights, we fight back using the courts. And with Donald Trump in office and anti-choice lawmakers controlling Congress, our work is more urgent than ever before.

We’re fighting for reproductive rights globally too. In Kenya, thousands of women die each year because of the inability to access safe, legal abortion. That’s why we’re fighting in Kenya’s high court to secure reproductive care for all women.

In El Salvador, we’re fighting for women who have been wrongly imprisoned for violating the country’s abortion laws because they sought care for medical emergencies during their pregnancies.

And we’re fighting not only for the right to abortion, but for access to ALL reproductive health care, including our work to ensure that black women in America receive safe, respectful maternal care.
