Living out her life in a concentrated animal feeding operation, she was anonymous.
She was nothing more than a number on an ear tag. Just another one of the billions of animals raised to live and die behind the walls of factory farms. Never even given a name.
I’m writing to you today as the donor matching all gifts to The Humane League. This Farm Animals Awareness Week, I hope you’ll consider making a gift to honor the animals our society never sees. The living, breathing beings many people never think about.
I’m choosing to remain anonymous—like all the animals who live and die on factory farms every year.

Anonymity is a cornerstone of the factory farming industry. Corporations view animals as breeding machines, and they spend lots of money and resources convincing us—and lawmakers—to do the same. This Farm Animals Awareness Week, one of the most radical things we can do is simple: to see farmed animals for the individuals they are.
The Humane League is one of the most effective organizations I have found fighting for farmed animals, with a track record of convincing powerful corporations to end the cruelest practices in their supply chains. I’m standing with them—to help create a better world for the animals the industry wants us to forget about.
Will you make a gift to help give farmed animals better lives? I’ll match your donation, dollar for dollar.

We’ll never know their names. But we know they deserve better. Because even though she was anonymous—she was someone.
For the animals,

P.S. Did you know that cows give each other names? They recognize each other’s voices. And they recognize one another as individuals. It’s time we do the same. If you’re able, will you consider making a gift today? I’ll match it.
