and what’s next

Sheldon Whitehouse Senator for Rhode Island

Team,

When I first ran for Senate in 2006, I was really eager to fix some pretty ludicrous stuff in our government – particularly our health care system, which was not serving the American people. For many patients, the system was costing way too much while not delivering a lot of bang for the buck. Millions of people were shut out of health insurance altogether because of preexisting conditions.

Over the years, as we continued to improve our health care system, I grew concerned about something else: How our country is being creepily and quietly influenced by the dark money and special interests that now fund the Republican Party. Those lurking forces are blocking large-scale action on climate change, gun safety, and so many issues that we need to solve. I made it my goal to break their hold on our politics.

Which is why I’m asking for your support now in the general election. I've been the biggest antagonist of the Republican dark money apparatus. Can you chip in $5 or more towards my post-primary fundraising goal to fight back?

During my time in the Senate, we’ve steadily gotten a lot of things fixed. We’ve made historic investments in our country’s infrastructure, taken important steps to prevent climate change, brought health care within reach for millions, achieved my promise that Medicare would finally be able to negotiate drug prices, and more.

But a lot is still in progress – from continuing to transform America’s health care system, to lowering housing costs for families, cleaning up the Supreme Court and creating an enforceable code of ethics for its justices, to protecting women’s rights by law, to making Social Security and Medicare safe and sound as far as the eye can see.

So please, team, pitch in if you can so I can continue my work in the Senate next year >>>

Thank you for all of your support.

- Sheldon
