Hi John, can I tell you a quick story about this photo?
That's me in 1985 — just 24 years old at my law school graduation, fresh off a student research assistant job for Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe, thinking that I had just completed the toughest challenge of my academic career. Well, up to that point, anyway — the bar exam was still a few weeks away!
Some years later, I would become an Assistant United States Attorney, and successfully prosecute the first FBI agent charged with espionage, Richard Miller, for spying for the Soviet Union.
As a new graduate of law school, I could never have imagined I would handle a case like that.
Or that I would later investigate a president who also betrayed our country ...
...lead his impeachment and Senate trial...
...serve on the January 6 Committee...
...get kicked off the Intelligence Committee by a craven Speaker of the House for doing the above…
...and get censured by extreme partisan MAGA House Republicans under the personal threat of that corrupt president...
Life leads us in uncertain and fortuitous ways. I’m fortunate that at a time when our country has been in trouble, and our democracy at risk, I have been in a position to help do something about it.
I’ve always been deeply committed to serving our country, using my position to make a difference in people’s lives every single day. Whether securing funding to build affordable housing in my community or fighting to defend our elections and the rule of law against a sore loser of a former president, I will always fight for what’s fair and just and right.
In the Senate, I hope to do even more.
If you're able to, will you contribute $10 to help me reach the Senate, defend our majority, and defeat Trump? I would be grateful for your help in continuing my service.
