Meet the Bowtie Ball’s honoree: Robin Roberts

On Nov. 16, acclaimed journalist Robin Roberts will be awarded the Poynter Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism at Poynter’s 10th annual Bowtie Ball in Downtown Tampa. As an award-winning journalist and anchor of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Robin Roberts has made a lasting impact on the world of journalism and television broadcasting.
The extraordinary career of Robin Roberts ✨
Robin Roberts began her career as a standout host on ESPN's “SportsCenter,” where her engaging style and sharp insights set her apart in sports journalism. In 2002, she became a news anchor for “Good Morning America” before being promoted to co-anchor in 2005. She quickly became a central figure to the show, noted for her journalistic integrity, compassion and resilience in the face of her personal battles with cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
