Angus King

Maine

I’ve been traveling a lot the last few weeks, John: Houlton, Madawaska, Van Buren, Presque Isle, Millinocket, East Millinocket (hey, they’re separate towns!), Portland, Bridgton, Camden, Belfast, Hallowell, and Augusta.

During my travels, I visited with every kind of person you can think of — small business owners; potato, blueberry, and dairy farmers; educators; and others too many to list. I listened to their stories, and I learned about the challenges our neighbors are facing.

To name just a few: housing is a problem, groceries are still too expensive (but gas seems to be coming down), and our businesses are seriously short of workers, from the trades to nurses, teachers, truck drivers, and just about everywhere else.

There is no shortage of challenges, but here’s what I know for a fact: There’s also no shortage of good-hearted, community-minded people to take on those challenges.

It’s the hardworking people of Maine that I fight for in Washington D.C., John. Every day is a new opportunity to bring down costs for Maine people, fight housing insecurity, and ensure everyone makes fair wages. This job is an absolute honor, and I hope you’ll let me continue building on the progress we’ve made.

As you know, I’m up for reelection in November to keep after these problems, and part of that process is fundraising. With my mid-month fundraising deadline tonight at midnight and my huge end-of-quarter deadline at the end of September, I could really use your support. Can you donate any amount towards my fundraising deadline today?

I don’t know about you, but I promise to never take these beautiful Maine sunsets or the beautiful people for granted.

Warmly,
Angus

There is nothing more important to Senator King than doing right by the people of Maine. This means fighting on their behalf for the issues that matter most, whether that’s health care, national security, veterans, education, economic certainty, the environment or job creation. Throughout his decades of public service, he has worked tirelessly to build relationships and improve opportunities for all Maine people, from Kittery to Fort Kent.
