OK – let’s talk about this.
We’re just over two weeks into September, and I’m willing to bet that your inbox has already seen more emails this month than in recent memory.
“But the election is still seven weeks away! Why are you guys emailing me so much, Sara??”
Here’s the thing: The election isn’t actually seven weeks away. Election Day may be November 5th, but tens of millions of people will vote well before then, in person or by mail.
In several states, early voting starts as soon as this week (and here in California, ballots will be mailed in just 21 days!). Meaning Democrats are currently in one of the most critical moments of the entire election cycle for reaching undecided voters and getting our message out.
And it’s not just that the election is closer than any of us realize, it’s also that at the end of September, every single federal campaign is facing our final quarterly FEC report of the election – which means that every dollar we can bring in between now and September 30th matters A LOT.
All of that is to say – the resources we raise right now have an outsized impact on the outcome of this year’s elections.
