Today we announced Massachusetts 250. This year, across our state, we will celebrate 250 years of America’s independence — and Massachusetts’ revolutionary history.
Massachusetts 250 is a statewide, ongoing celebration over the next two years, not only of our history, but of everything that makes our state special.
We will showcase our state’s rich history and amplify untold stories of the Revolution through hundreds of cultural and community events over the next two years.
We are going to leverage this moment to draw visitors to our state and drive local economies.
We have a lot to be proud of. Since the beginning, Massachusetts has been leading Revolutions every day. We are home to America’s first public school, public library, and public park – Boston Common.
Today we are voted #1 for education and #1 for healthcare. The #1 state to have a baby and raise a family. The best quality of life.
We are consistently ranked the #1 state for innovation. We are the state that led in the past and now invents the future. The state that cures disease, develops vaccines, and heals the world.
We are leading the clean energy revolution to grow good jobs and heal the planet. And we are standing up for and protecting the rights and freedoms that our revolution was fought for. That is what we celebrate when we celebrate our history.
With Massachusetts 250, we will be telling the whole story of our state, through the voices of every community.
We have led the Revolution to make America an inclusive and just democracy where everyone can be free.
In Massachusetts 250 we build on that legacy.
I look forward to celebrating our accomplishments of the past, and the revolutionary spirit that continues to drive our great state into the future.
Thank you,
-Maura Healey
