John, the first time I met Nelba Márquez-Greene, I was setting up my classroom for the school year. She had just moved to town and her beautiful family of four had bright eyes and high hopes for the school year.
But the second time we met, it was in a firehouse after the Sandy Hook School shooting in 2012. I survived the shooting. Nelba’s daughter, six-year-old Ana Grace, tragically did not.
Ana Grace should still be with us. So today, her mother and I are fighting to end gun violence. Because John, no one should ever go through what we did.
One impactful thing Nelba is doing is hosting the Shared Humanity podcast, which I was honored to join. The impactful thing I'm doing: organizing teachers to help end this scourge.
And I humbly ask that you do something impactful, too: that you stand with us by supporting Teachers Unify – an organization dedicated to uplifting the voices of educators to help end gun violence in our own schools and communities.
John, this issue is personal, whether you’ve experienced gun violence or not. Now I’m personally asking: Will you donate $25 to Teachers Unify by midnight so we can keep fighting to save lives? >>
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
