Dear John,
Donald Trump left office with the lowest approval rating of any president ever. But some people now seem to be suffering from amnesia.
Let me jog your memory.
Here are the 10 Worst Things About the Trump Presidency -- in no particular order.
I admit it was a little challenging to narrow it down to ten. Which ones to pick?
“Very fine people on both sides”? “Stand back and stand by”?
Injecting disinfectant to cure Covid? Or 3,000 people per day dying of Covid -- a 9/11-size death toll every day by the time he left office.
Separating 5,000 immigrant children from their families, putting babies in cages, with no plans whatsoever to reunite them with their parents?
The biggest increase in the national debt of any four-year term in history? While including more billionaires and Wall Street CEOs in his administration than any previous one?
How about disparaging Haiti and African nations as “shithole countries”?
Oh, and we can’t forget inciting the January 6 insurrection: “Be there -- will be wild!” Shutting down the metal detectors at the rally that day, knowing the mob would be armed, then sitting back to watch them attack police and chant “Hang Mike Pence” on television for hours, when he could have told everyone to go home -- that was pretty bad, wasn’t it?
And don't forget the impeachments!
Boy, it’s going to be tough to narrow this down! But I hope you’ll join me while we try!
Look, I can understand why a lot of people want to block out all of these memories. But we cannot afford to forget just how terrible Trump’s time in the White House was for this nation.
And we sure as hell can’t afford to put him back there.
