We emailed you last week about a very important 2A issue which will now be voted on this Wednesday in Congress.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is bringing a bill to the floor for a vote on Wednesday—a bill which contains many 2A protections.
So I need you to call your Representative at 202-224-3121 and encourage him/her to vote YES on the Continuing Resolution (or CR) for six months which includes the SAVE Act.
This CR funding bill contains several 2A protections, including changes in the law which we announced earlier this year—changes that would:
1) Protect 10,000 military veterans from being disarmed by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden over the next six months.
2) Continue implementing a historic budget cut for the ATF, stopping an entire new class of ATF agents
3) Force ATF to keep improving NFA approval times
4) Prevent an unaccountable, post-election Congress from passing an anti-gun Omnibus funding bill at Christmas time.
In addition to all this, Speaker Johnson has added the SAVE Act to the CR funding bill which would prevent illegal aliens from voting for gun grabbers.
Right now, President Biden and Kamala Harris are both saying they oppose this bill because of what I’ve just outlined above. That’s fine, if Biden wants to shut down the government because he hates the 2A. That’s a Biden problem, and he can’t blame the other party for his veto.
Several pro-gun stalwarts are also supporting this CR/SAVE Act combo, including Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), both of whom are HUGE Second Amendment supporters.
But you should know that there are some pro-gun congressmen who are opposing this bill because they oppose all Continuing Resolutions and believe in the importance of a balanced budget. We agree with them in principle, but the trimming of the federal government will NOT occur within the next couple of weeks.
A pro-gun majority in the House of Representatives has not been able to pass all 12 funding bills—despite GOA working with our allies to produce some of the most pro-gun appropriations in history.
The battle for today is whether Congress will pass a Continuing Resolution that protects 2A rights and stops illegals from voting, or if it simply passes a funding bill that does nothing for gun owners.
We choose the former.
A lame duck omnibus—which is sure to come if the House does not pass a 6 month CR now—will be a disaster for the Second Amendment.
Again, please call your congressman at 202-224-3121 and encourage him/her to support the Continuing Resolution and SAVE Act which will be voted on this Wednesday, September 18.
