We need a parliament fit for the 21st century.

 

Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer is shocked at the noise level in the House of Commons.

 

The newly elected MP watched in disbelief as Labour and Conservative MPs shouted at each other across the small echoey chamber during the winter fuel allowance debate.

 

And the bad behaviour wasn’t limited to how the big parties treat each other. When the time came to vote, party whips stood at the lobbies shouting at their own MPs on how to vote.

 

Carla has a message for Keir Starmer: if he is serious about restoring trust in politics he must make parliament fit for the 21st century.

Trust in parliament is at an all time low. It's time to get serious about doing politics differently.
