Friends,
We’re 49 days out from the most consequential election of our lifetime, and things are getting weird. And that’s not good for our democracy.
I wouldn’t have guessed that we’d be talking about Trump spreading false rumors about Haitian immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. Or that the Republican presidential nominee would be palling around with an unhinged 9/11 truther down the stretch. But that’s where we are.
What's worse is that Republicans in Congress like Nick LaLota are enabling this extremism. They've gotten so used to doing whatever Donald Trump says that they end up echoing his unhinged extremism.
Here’s just the latest example: During the presidential debate, Nick LaLota decided to push out some far-right meme about Vice President Harris that could have been cut and pasted from Laura Loomer's Twitter feed. Take a look for yourself.

This is a right-wing fever dream pumped up by the extremists that gave us Project 2025. But Nick LaLota amplified that extremism willingly. Because that's who he really is. He's not one of the most bipartisan members of Congress. In fact, by the same study group he cites, he's the least bipartisan member of the Long Island delegation. That’s a fact.
Nick LaLota is a Trump toady who is far too far right for Suffolk County. He cheered the overturning of Roe v. Wade and even called for the repeal of New York’s own abortion law. He helped Trump kill the bipartisan border security bill that I would vote for on day one. And he believes that New York should *lower* the age to buy AR-15s. That’s not common sense.
So let’s restore decency, competence and honor to Congress. Let’s get common sense problem solving and rebuild the middle of our politics and our economy. Nick Lalota spends more time trying to be an internet troll than in doing his job. And that's why we’ll fire him this fall. Help us get there >>
