I’m not writing to you as an actor, but as an Arizonan. This is the state my husband was born in, and we got our wedding bands at the Heard Museum, to always remind us of our Arizona connection.

I’ve dedicated my adult years to politics, from local campaigns to standing against hateful bigots in national leadership. I firmly believe that this upcoming election is the most crucial one yet – and that’s why I’m supporting Ruben Gallego.

For years, we’ve seen extremists and charlatans like Kari Lake attempt to seize the reins of power with her MAGA leader Donald Trump’s blessing, and our democratic institutions have suffered dearly.

My father, reflecting on our family’s release from internment during World War II, instilled in us the vital role we all have in protecting our democracy. He saw what happens to people when elected officials are emboldened to act on their bigoted, xenophobic, and racist beliefs.

A Marine combat veteran and the first in his family to go to college, Ruben embodies the principles of democracy and inclusion. He’s exactly the antidote we need for the toxic authoritarianism that the MAGA Republican Party has embraced. I proudly stand with Ruben and Democrats brave enough to confront racist, xenophobic, and misogynist bullies. And that’s why I’m asking you to join me.

Right now, Ruben is under constant attack by Kari and the MAGA right. They have a plan to fight back against these attacks and win in November, but it relies on grassroots donors like you.
