Hey! Happy National Voter Registration Day.

If you’re not familiar with this totally official (sort of) holiday, NVRD is the country’s largest single-day voter registration drive. Since the start of NVRD, millions of voters have been registered on this day alone. Whoa.

While we may not get the day off, every holiday deserves a celebration. That’s why for this National Voter Registration Day party, we’re asking you to please, please, please check your voter registration, and register your friends and family.

We know you’ve heard that every year’s election is the most important election in history. But it’s not deja vu, and it’s not hyperbole. One of our two major political parties is dead set on enacting their extremist agenda through Project 2025, and they don’t care if it requires destroying our democracy in the process.

Dictator-curious Donald Trump has promised his followers that if they vote for him this year, they “don’t have to vote again.” Good stuff. If he wins the presidency, and Republicans win the Senate and keep the U.S. House, the 2028 presidential election may not happen. A Republican trifecta would allow the GOP to pass their agenda unobstructed, imperiling abortion rights, progress on climate change, and, ya know, our democracy. Not a super cheery thought on this unofficial holiday, but an important one nonetheless.

But: the good news is we can choose another reality this year. If we can hold the Democratic majority in the Senate, flip the House, and send VP Harris to the White House, we can start fighting for the things we deserve. Like more safeguards for our planet, federal protections for abortion and contraceptives, common sense gun violence prevention, a child tax credit, lower taxes and a fair shake for working class Americans. Doesn’t that sound more like the world we want to live in?

We have the opportunity to make history in November. But with less than two months until Election Day, now is the time to get our sh*t together. So please, make a plan to vote, bring your friends and family to the polls, and maybe then…we can feel the rain on our skin? Take a deep breath? We’ll figure it out as we go.
