Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider multiple pieces of legislation to shore up benefits for veterans. Our gratitude and support for our U.S. military service members should not end once they remove their uniform, and my top priority is ensuring that the more than 41,000 veterans in the Big First receive the benefits and care that they deserve. I will continue to fight for policies that put Kansas veterans first while giving them the highest quality of resources and support. The House will also vote on bills that prohibit Congress from bailing out sanctuary cities, legislation to formally disapprove of the Biden-Harris Administration’s vehicle emission rule that creates a de facto electric vehicle mandate, and to make it easier for victims of identity theft to restore their Social Security benefits.  Also happening this week, the House Small Business Committee will host a hearing with the Small Business Administrator (SBA) to hold the SBA accountable for failing to support our small businesses. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will vote on multiple pieces of legislation for the full House to consider. I look forward to participating in these committee meetings. Read my Commitment to the Big First here Meetings in the Office National Turkey Federation Kansas Automobile Dealers Association Transportation Intermediaries Association Kansas Farm Bureau Central Christian School Pizza Hut, Kansas Kansas Association of Professional Insurance Agents Kraft Heinz U.S. Global Leadership Coalition Kansas National Guard   In the Office Countering Communist China's Influence America must hold communist China accountable. I sent a clear message on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives that America is not up for grabs. No other nation allows its adversaries to go unchecked in purchasing its property, which is why I supported legislation last week to require the Secretary of Agriculture to report on foreign transactions. I also voted to rescind Biden-Harris Administration tax incentives for products from China and led my colleagues in a letter to the U.S. Treasury demanding that the Administration prioritize domestic producers. American tax credits should be used to benefit American producers. Period. Fighting to Prevent the Federal Government from Seizing Land for Proposed Transmission Corridor Last week, I introduced legislation that will prevent the federal government from using taxpayer dollars to seize private property to be used for a proposed National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC). Since the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) phase 2 announcement of the NIETC proposal, Kansans have made it loud and clear—we are not interested in the federal government’s land grab. DOE’s phase 2 announcement of the NIETC proposal was grossly under publicized, overly vague, and left landowners with no clarity regarding whether their lands would be impacted. Senator Moran and I introduced this legislation to protect the rights of Kansas landowners and prevent the federal government from treading on our liberties. Any land given to the federal government for this project should be voluntary, not mandated, and I will never stop fighting to defend that right. Meetings in the Office Kansas Chamber of Commerce I joined the Kansas Chamber of Commerce for their annual Congressional Fly-In last week. During our time together, I spoke about my legislation, the Regulatory Transparency for Small Business Act, and the need to cut harmful red tape and burdensome regulations for small businesses. The last thing small businesses need are more rules from Washington, D.C. that make it harder for them to make an honest living and serve their communities well. Thank you, Kansas Chamber, for being a fierce advocate for small businesses in the Big First and across the state. The Transport Project The Transport Project is a national coalition of fleets, vehicle and engine manufacturers, servicers and suppliers, and fuel producers and providers dedicated to the increased use of gaseous motor fuels. I appreciated hearing members perspectives about how America can increase its energy capabilities. It is critical for America to embrace a strategy that prioritizes energy independence while embracing both fossil fuels and renewable energy. Thank you for meeting with me in Washington, D.C. Kansas Wheat I met with Kansas Wheat to discuss the need to pass a five-year, fiscally conservative Farm Bill that gives certainty to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. While Senate Democrats are playing games and refusing to release base text of a Farm Bill, I worked to include Kansas agricultural producers’ priorities in the House Agriculture Committee’s Farm Bill. Kansas agricultural producers are working day in and day out to feed, fuel, and clothe the world. They deserve to have a strong farm safety net to fall back on when Mother Nature takes her toll. Thank you, Kansas Wheat for using your voice to advocate for America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. We need a Farm Bill now. Kansas Credit Union Association Credit unions play an important role in supporting families and small businesses across Kansas. I met with Kansas Credit Union Association last week to learn more about the work they are doing to support Kansans and hear their perspectives on important policies that impact financial conditions across our state. Thank you for your work and for meeting with me. Kansas Farmers Union Last week, I met with Kansas Farmers Union to discuss the state of farm country, the U.S. State Department’s backlog of visa requests for farm labor, and policies impacting the types of crop insurance available to Kansas agricultural producers. The federal government should support our agricultural producers instead of burdening them with unnecessary regulations. Thank you, Kansas Farmers Union, for meeting with me in Washington, D.C. AMP Americas Last week, I met with AMP Americas to discuss important energy issues facing our country. AMP Americas develops, owns, and operates facilities that convert dairy waste that is used to generate renewable natural gas and renewable electricity. During our meeting, we discussed AMP Americas' newest renewable natural gas partnership facility in Cimmaron. America needs an "all of the above" energy approach to be successful, and I appreciate AMP Americas efforts in powering the world. ICL Group Lawrence ICL Group is a leading global specialty minerals company that plays an integral role in producing and marketing essential inputs like fertilizer and food-grade components for global agriculture and industrial supply chains. During our meeting, we discussed how ICL is navigating workforce challenges and working to create domestic jobs and manufacturing opportunities in places like ICL's phosphate plant in Lawrence. As part of my Commitment to the Big First, I am fighting to build an economy that's strong, and companies like ICL Group play an important role in that effort. Thank you for meeting with me while in Washington, D.C. Growth Energy I was proud to receive the 2024 Fueling Growth Award from Growth Energy, which honors Congressional champions who have supported the biofuels industry. I will always advocate for policies that support biofuels as a key role in the "all of the above" energy approach America needs. Commodity Group Coalition Last week, representatives from various agricultural commodity groups from across the country traveled to Capitol Hill to urge Congress to pass a five-year Farm Bill like what the House Agriculture Committee passed in May. We discussed what I have said all along – farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers need a fiscally conservative, five-year Farm Bill, and they need it now. I was pleased to meet with some of these advocates as we all understand that the Farm Bill cannot become another political game in Washington, D.C. Too many lives depend on it.
