John – Growing up, I always knew I wanted to make a difference in my community. Watching my parents work hard to support our family and care for others taught me the value of service. That’s exactly why I became a pediatrician.

But I quickly realized that doctors face major obstacles when trying to treat our patients.

That’s why I ran for the state legislature. In that time, I worked to pass legislation to force drug companies to lower the cost of prescriptions, expand funding for preschool, ensure all Coloradans have access to paid family leave and sick days, and protect renters from eviction during the pandemic.

And, John, that’s why I ran for Congress in 2022. The pollsters said I didn’t have a shot at winning this race. Thanks to this grassroots movement, we defied the odds and elected the first Latina to represent Colorado in Congress.
