Greetings Friend!
I’m pleased to share that I have joined FAMM full-time as their new Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Organizational Development. I am deeply honored and overjoyed to have made a significant career shift into work that gives me a true sense of purpose and allows me to help make meaningful change. What’s more, I now have the privilege of doing it with an organization that truly loves humanity and is dedicated to doing right by our brothers and sisters.
My connection to FAMM goes back to 2013, during my fight to free my husband, who, in 2005 had been handed a 235-month sentence in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In 2014, I married this incredible man while he was still incarcerated, and we just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on July 31st! He was released in 2015, thanks to legislation that FAMM passionately advocated for—legislation that reflects the core of FAMM’s mission to support fair sentencing and second chances, much like the reforms we continue to champion today.

My personal experiences make my path in criminal justice somewhat unique, as not only am I the wife of a formerly incarcerated person, but I’m also a survivor. Sixteen years ago, my first husband was murdered, and no suspect was ever arrested.
I don’t believe that whoever is responsible for my late husband’s death needs to spend 30 or 40 years in prison just to realize the gravity of what they did to my family. Keeping them in prison for that long wouldn’t heal their family either. It would only tear their lives apart—just as mine was. So how can we not advocate second chances when we know that, by nature, human beings do change?
Before I joined FAMM full-time, I spent 20 years working in the Department of Defense industry, most recently serving as Vice President of Contracts Management. In my role here at FAMM, I will be working to enhance our operational infrastructure to help the organization grow and thrive in its mission to create a more fair and effective justice system.
I’m thrilled to be here and to work alongside such a passionate team. Together, we can continue to drive the change we want to see in the world.
In Solidarity,
