VIDEO OF THE DAY: Mark Cuban deals nightmare blow to Trump
Brian Tyler Cohen sat down for an enlightening conversation with Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank head honcho Mark Cuban, who absolutely hammered the disgraced ex-president where it hurts him the most — his business acumen and criminally overrated negotiating skills. You love to see it.

New Hampshire Libertarian Party shares — then deletes — post that suggests assassinating Kamala Harris would be heroic
Conservatives have been clutching their collective pearls since a disturbed, heavily armed gunman — who voted for Trump in 2016 and backed Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley in the GOP primary earlier this year — was apprehended outside the MAGA cult leader's Florida golf course while the disgraced ex-president played a round, shrieking about the need for Democrats to dial down the dangerous rhetoric, only to be outed once again, for the umpteenth time, for making wildly irresponsible and incendiary statements of their own. Always with the finger pointing, these people...

Trump REFUSES to acknowledge climate crisis at debate
EDF Action: Last week, Donald Trump made it clear that if he becomes president, all the progress we've made in the fight against the climate crisis and transitioning to a green energy economy will go right in the trash — and as three enormous wildfires ravage California and deadly floods strike everywhere from Spain to Vietnam, it's obvious that we cannot afford to go even one step backwards. Will you pledge to vote for climate champions this November and make sure that Trump and his corporate cronies can't roll back all of President Biden's accomplishments?
Springfield schools evacuated yet again over bomb threats after Trump’s lies about Haitian immigrants
Donald Trump and JD Vance's incessant, completely baseless lies about Haitian migrants stealing and eating their neighbors' pets have so far led to at least 33 BOMB THREATS in Springfield, Ohio, shutting down schools, government offices, college campuses, and surrounding businesses and paralyzing a community bombarded with unwarranted and unwanted attention. Haitian immigrants in Springfield have been targeted by a storm of racist conspiracy theories over the past few weeks that became supercharged when the Republican nominees for president and vice president took up the cause for naked political gain, following months of agitation from far-right groups apparently including the Ku Klux Klan. The Republican governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, has been awkwardly forced into the role of public debunker on local and national airwaves, flatly refuting the hate-fueled rhetoric being peddled by his own party leaders. But sure, Democrats need to tone down the heated rhetoric. Got it.

Trump hawks new cryptocurrency venture — 49 days before election — despite once calling industry a "scam"
The disgraced ex-president and his man children Don Jr. and Eric took time out of their busy schedule disparaging immigrants Monday evening to unveil their latest racket — a new cryptocurrency venture called "World Liberty Financial" that they claim will be "the start of a financial revolution," despite Donald Trump's well-document disdain for alternative, blockchain currency over the years. Yet for all the fanfare, neither they nor their business partners revealed almost anything concrete about the project, save that it will involve a “stablecoin” — that is, a digital currency whose value is pegged to that of an existing traditional currency — and be controlled via non-transferrable "governance tokens." Trump went on to, uh, "explain" his pivot on crypto, stating, "My attitude is different... [crypto] suffers from some credibility lapses; some things were done or not done. But it's very young, and very growing, and if we don't do it, China's gonna do it. If we don't do it, other countries are gonna do it." Very growing, indeed!

California firefighters’ union slams Trump for threatening to withhold funding: "He should be ashamed"
The president of the California firefighters’ union slammed Donald Trump for suggesting he would withhold federal firefighting aid if the state didn't go along with his self-serving political priorities. "Former President Trump should be ashamed for threatening to withhold federal firefighting aid from California should he be elected," California Professional Firefighters president Brian K. Rice wrote in a statement on Facebook. "As of today, thousands of firefighters are on the front lines responding to wildfires throughout the state, and countless Californians are in harm’s way as they heed evacuation orders," he added. "Nevertheless, former President Trump expressed that he would play with their lives and their homes if he doesn't get what he wants." Responding to the MAGA cult leader's extortion threats, California Gov. Gavin Newsom wrote, "Today it’s California’s wildfires. Tomorrow it could be hurricane funding for North Carolina or flooding assistance for homeowners in Pennsylvania. Donald Trump doesn't care about America — he only cares about himself."

Biden’s green policies will save 200,000 lives and have boosted clean energy jobs, data shows
The environmental policies of Joe Biden’s administration will save approximately 200,000 Americans’ lives from dangerous pollution in the coming decades and have spurred a surge in clean energy jobs, two independent reports outlining the stakes of the upcoming US presidential election have found. The first full year of the Inflation Reduction Act, the sprawling climate bill passed strictly by Democratic votes in Congress in 2022, saw nearly 150,000 clean energy jobs added, according to a new report by nonpartisan business group E2. Nearly 3.5 million people now work in these fields in the US, more than the total number of nurses nationwide, with 1 million of these jobs centered in the deep south, a region politically dominated by Republicans. Will any of this lead to red-state voters casting ballots in their own economic self-interest or will they continue to do the bidding of the MAGA cult leader who has vowed to gut the IRA and sentence historically underserved communities to yet another generation of poverty and decline?

Biden says "good Republicans" are scared out of pro-LGBTQ+ stances by far right
We know President Biden means well, and we understand the sentiment here, but any politician who puts their own career and continued access to power ahead of protecting the fundamental human rights of others doesn't meet the very low bar of "good" in our book.
Ryan Routh was camped out for 12 hours outside Florida golf course, didn't have Trump in his line of sight when Secret Service fired at him
The man arrested in connection with an apparent attempt to assassinate Donald Trump is a former supporter who turned against the disgraced ex-president in part for foreign policy reasons and later traveled to Ukraine, where he made an ill-fated attempt to raise a volunteer force to fight the Russians. The revelations about Ryan Wesley Routh emerged Monday, a day after a Secret Service agent rousted him from a hiding place at the West Palm Beach, Florida, golf course where he went unnoticed for more than 12 hours before being spotted. Trump was on the fifth fairway and not in Routh’s line of sight when the agent “engaged” the suspect, said Ronald Rowe, acting director of the Secret Service. Routh never fired his weapon, abandoned his position, and was apprehended by police a short time later.
Superbugs "could kill 39 million people by 2050" amid rising drug resistance
Superbugs will kill more than 39 million people before 2050 with older people particularly at risk, according to a new global analysis. While deaths linked to drug resistance are declining among very young children, driven by improvements in vaccination and hygiene, the study found the opposite trend for their grandparents. By the middle of the century, 1.91 million people a year are forecast to die worldwide directly because of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — in which bacteria evolve so that the drugs usually used to fight them no longer work — up from 1.14 million in 2021. AMR will play some role in 8.2 million deaths annually, up from 4.71 million.
Chemicals leaching from food packaging found in humans, new study shows. Experts call for more safety regulations
Certain chemicals — more than 3,600 to be precise — are leaching from food packaging into food and have been detected in human samples of urine, blood, and breast milk in just the latest deeply troubling revelation from the criminally under-regulated chemical and plastics industries. "Food packaging — and other types of food contact articles, like kitchenware, food processing equipment, and food storage containers — can leach their chemical constituents into foodstuffs," Dr. Jane Muncke, co-author of a new study published in the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology, tells Yahoo Life. "When people ingest foodstuffs, these so-called food contact chemicals can enter into their bodies. In our study, we show that 3,601 known food contact chemicals have been detected in people. Some of these — 79 — are of high concern due to their hazard properties."
