Governor Chris Sununu signed HB 1569 to uphold New Hampshire’s proud tradition of trusted and true elections. This law removes exceptions for proving voter identification and requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time—all common-sense measures.
But Democrats disagree. Senator Jeanne Shaheen says it's "anti-American." The New Hampshire Democratic Party chair claims Republicans are "cheating" by enforcing voter ID laws.
Democrats believe that asking for proof of identity before voting is wrong.
