Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures welcomes Pico Iyer to the Carnegie Music Hall on Sept. 30, for the second Ten Evenings lecture of the season. Pico Iyer will present his lecture on his latest book, “The Half-Known Life: In Search of Paradise.”

The Urban Redevelopment Authority [URA] approved the use of $750,000 to stabilize eight vacant townhomes in the Bedford Dwellings area. The approval helps pave the way for URA affiliates to acquire the buildings so that they can be rehabilitated and marketed to eligible first-time homebuyers in the area.
The Pittsburgh Land Bank approved a resolution to buy 13 empty lots from the city in the North Side's Charles Street area to sell to the Charles Street Area Corporation, which will then build houses on the lots.
