Last week, the Israeli military shot and killed 26-year-old American activist Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi in the West Bank, John.
The unwarranted murder of a U.S. citizen by Netanyahu’s forces is an absolute outrage, but the Biden Administration has failed to do anything to hold this right-wing government accountable for taking her life as well as the lives of more than 40,000 Palestinian civilians.
Our Justice Democrats-endorsed members of Congress have led the call for peace and justice since October 7th, with Representatives Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib introducing the first bill demanding an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages on both sides. Fellow JD members joined them in becoming some of the first to stand on the right side of history on this issue.
Now, Rep. Delia Ramirez and Rep. Pramila Jayapal are demanding accountability for Ayşenur’s murder and the escalating violence in the West Bank.
Delia issued a letter signed by 20 of her House colleagues, including 7 other Justice Democrats, to U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken asking the Biden Administration for specific, significant actions to hold Israel accountable and prevent further settlement expansion and violence against Palestinians.
Pramila sent a similar letter demanding the U.S. oversee an independent investigation into the Israeli military’s killing of Ayşenur, and clear next steps to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
While we wait for President Biden and his cabinet to finally do something about the Israeli military’s genocide against Palestinians and killing of American citizens, it is beyond clear that we need more Justice Democrats like Delia and Pramila in Congress fighting for the rights of ALL people.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
