Friend, Cats and kittens are irreplaceable members of our families. But when families fall on hard times, many feel pressured to choose between caring for themselves and caring for cats—or even consider relinquishing their cat to an animal shelter. We strongly believe that Cats Are Family Too™, which is why we’re working hard to make sure families can stay together in times of financial crisis. Our Cats Are Family Too program has provided thousands of pounds of animal food and litter to communities across the country, allowing families in need to feed their cats through local food banks. We also connect cat caregivers to low- and no-cost veterinary care in their state, including spay and neuter assistance. We make sure both indoor cats AND community cats outdoors are covered with critical resources! Many families are still feeling the financial impacts of the post-COVID era, making this work an essential lifeline for so many. Alley Cat Allies is committed to Keeping Families Together™ and preventing more cats from ending up in the shelter system, where they may be killed. Cats Are Family Too serves as a model for community food banks to expand their reach to more cats and their families in times of crisis.
