Building the Green Energy Future with Frontline Communities

CLIMATE WEEK NYC: Join Us on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for "Building the Green Energy Future with Frontline Communities"

New York’s transition to an emissions-free future isn’t just about transforming how we produce and deploy energy. It’s an all-hands-on-deck project that requires real commitment from industry, the workers who power it, and the communities it serves.

How should industry deliver on the urgent task at hand in collaboration with labor, climate justice advocates, and local governments to ensure an environmental justice victory that leaves nobody behind? And how can these groups leverage their distinct histories and infrastructure in partnership to achieve that sustainable future?

Join us at City & State New York’s Second Annual New York Climate Justice Forum: Building the Green Energy Future with Frontline Communities to hear from stakeholders who are helping shape New York’s energy future. Peggy Shepard will be a keynote speaker, along with Basil Seggos, Partner at Foley Hoag LLP & Former Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Manny Salgado will be on the "Place Matters: Mapping and Tech Tools for a Just Transition" panel. Pamela Stewart-Martinez will be on the "Building Power: Climate Organizing in NYC" panel. And there will also be panels on "New York’s Working Waterfront & the Clean Energy Future" and "Planning for Equity: Land Use & Climate Justice" –
along with a cocktail reception at the end.

We are co-hosting this FREE event with City & State New York, Rise Light & Power, and the NYCHA Branch of the NAACP. So join us from 1:00-6:30 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at MOMA PS1, which is located at 22-25 Jackson Avenue in Queens. Be sure to RSVP!
