The Antidote to Injustice

Dear FAIR Friend,

New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger recently published a piece in the Washington Post, warning Americans about the threat Donald Trump poses to democracy and a free press—while simultaneously touting his paper’s “both-sides”, false-balance approach that got us in this precarious place to begin with. FAIR has been calling out this dangerous legitimization since the beginning, and during this crucial election year, we’ve been using our resources to call out false balance and disinformation whenever we see it!

We’re working hard to fundraise this month to ensure that we can not only do this work this year, but continue to speak truth to power well into the future. Can you help us?

So far, we’ve been lagging behind our fundraising goal for this month. We know people often donate elsewhere during election years, but we want to take this moment to emphasize how important media activism is during this political season. Your donations are the backbone of FAIR. They are what allow our content to be entirely free, and what afford us the independence to loudly shout the truth—even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable.

We are facing a crisis of democracy, and a crisis of journalism. But we feel a shift: More people are disillusioned with the status quo and becoming curious about building a better future.

FAIR has been facing a financial crisis of our own over the past two years, and we need as many donations as possible to close a gap of more than $200,000 from the last fiscal year. While we receive some small grants,
our business model relies most heavily on support of our readers and listeners. We literally would be unable to do this without you!

The more muddled the corporate press allows the truth to become, the more room corrupt leaders and exploitative corporations have to sow injustice. But reliable, truthful and independent information is the antidote!

Donate to FAIR today and fight for a more just and democratic press.

Thank you for your support and for keeping this small but mighty organization going!

Sincerely,

Olivia, Julie, Janine & Jim

P.S. If you are unable to support FAIR financially during this time, we invite you to help us spread the word! Send your latest favorite FAIR article or CounterSpin episode to a friend, and invite your network to sign up for your email list!
