Hey John -

Dan Crenshaw here. I hope you are well.

Health care workers are risking their lives. Grocers are stocking our shelves. And truck drivers are keeping our country moving. But Congress cannot even show up to work. That is cowardice, and I am pushing for Congress to show leadership and go back to work.

I am also continuing to call for smart strategies to re-open local economies to get people back to work and an American energy policy to save the energy industry.

Follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for regular updates and news you can use. As always, thank you for your support.

Now, here’s your brief:
HIGH SCHOOL AMBASSADORS STEPPING UP TO GET HOUSTON BACK ON TRACK

Our amazing high school Crenshaw Ambassadors dedicated their Friday to preparing face masks for distribution to local organizations and communities in need in Houston. They are a fantastic example of young, bright, healthy citizens stepping up to support the risk mitigation efforts that are necessary to safely re-open the American economy and protect individuals most at risk from COVID-19.

Local communities must feel empowered to implement these strategies on their own terms. This is how we get America back on track.
FILLING TRUCKS TO FEED THE COMMUNITY

Houston Strong: Tara Crenshaw helping with the relief support at First Baptist Church

The Houston community pulls together when our neighbors are hurting. It’s part of what makes our city Houston Strong.

This week, my wife Tara participated in the “Fill the Truck” food drive at Houston’s First Baptist Church. The Church has stepped up to fill up their box truck to support their Faith Center’s Food Pantry in Spring Branch. All donations help local Houston families in need and every donation counts! CONGRESS NEEDS TO GET BACK TO WORK

WATCH: Nancy Pelosi Must Stop Hiding and Get Congress Back to Work

Only the Speaker of the House - Nancy Pelosi - can bring the House back into session to get Congress back to work for the American people. But Democrat leaders are refusing to do so. This is an appalling lack of leadership and courage.

The country is in crisis. Congress should not be hiding. We should be in Washington debating individual issues and addressing the country’s challenges with targeted legislation. Instead, we are flying into D.C. every couple of weeks to spend massive amounts of YOUR taxpayer dollars and expecting a pat on the back. It must stop.

I’m calling on Congress to show the courage to lead from the front. We’re asking our essential workers to fulfill their duties, and it’s time for Members of Congress to do the same. No excuses. CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE TO WATCH.

Please add your name to our petition to demand that Speaker Pelosi get Congress back to work immediately for the American people.
WE NEED A STRATEGY TO RE-OPEN THE ECONOMY

WATCH: The Costs of the Shutdown Cannot Be Ignored

3.8 million Americans filed for unemployment in the past week. More than 30 million of our fellow citizens have filed for unemployment in the past six weeks. There is a public health impact and human toll to the economic devastation we are experiencing. Livelihoods are being destroyed. That’s why I’m calling for smart strategies to re-open the economy.

We are doing this here in Texas with a targeted re-opening to get people back to work and revive the economy. These re-openings must start to happen across the country sooner than later. We can trust Americans to protect themselves AND our most vulnerable populations. Giving people the freedom to do just that is a good thing. CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE TO WATCH.
AMERICAN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE IS AT STAKE

WATCH: American Energy Independence is at Stake. How do we protect it?

Our energy industry has not been immune to the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic. Plummeting global demand and bad-faith actions from Russia and Saudi Arabia have put American energy independence at risk, which threatens thousands of jobs and our economy. We need to take serious action to save the energy industry.

I wrote recently about the need for an American energy policy to respond to the unprecedented threats facing the energy sector. These policies will not save American energy independence unilaterally, but they will go a long way to help the smaller producers who call Texas home. If we do not take action soon, America will return to relying upon Saudi Arabia and Russia for our energy needs. That is bad for both our environment and our economy.
