The National Institutes of Health (NIH) confirmed to me that $76,000 in U.S. taxpayer dollars went to one of the Wuhan labs at the center of the coronavirus outbreak. These funds were specifically used to study bat coronavirus infections.
We can add this to the growing list of reasons why our country needs to rethink its approach to China.
Why in the world would we send money to our greatest geopolitical threat for this dangerous research?
I’m demanding answers, and that’s why I called on the administration to immediately halt U.S. taxpayer funds from going to these Chinese virology labs.
I’m also taking action to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for their lies and cover-up campaign that led to this global pandemic.
That’s why I’m introducing the “Ending Chinese Medical Censorship and Cover Ups Act of 2020.”
This legislation will sanction Chinese officials involved in the ongoing suppression of medical experts, journalists, and political dissidents.
China’s censorship is directly responsible for a mounting death toll around the world, and tens of millions of lost jobs here in the U.S. as our economy has been upended!
We know China has tried to cover up this outbreak from day one. As this coronavirus began to spread in Wuhan, they silenced whistleblowers and lied to the world about human-to-human transmission.
Their suppression of critical public health information fueled this global pandemic...and we STILL don’t know the whole story about how this outbreak started.
We need to get to the bottom of what happened, and hold China accountable.
