First Job 2024 National Outreach Initiative
This training is a great opportunity for individuals who are new to the workforce and could benefit from the 2024 First Job campaign sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service. The primary goal of the First Job outreach initiative is to assist first-time employees in comprehending their salaries and taxes and to provide information about the IRS Pathways. The aim is to increase awareness about the availability of free tax preparation services at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. The IRS will be hosting an event titled "The First Job Symposium" on September 18, 2024. Please don't hesitate to share this information with community organizations and job seekers.

The Springvale CareerCenter and York County Community College welcome you to join them at YCCC for this two-part series. Join Brad Currie and Jim Pineau of the US SBA for an overview of the process of beginning a business and the resources available to help ensure success. A Beginner's Guide to Embracing Today's Technology (York Adult Education) is a course that offers a gradual, step-by-step approach to the fundamental technologies that can simplify and enhance your everyday activities. The course covers topics such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops, as well as an overview of email, texting, and chatting. Additionally, it includes guidance on navigating platforms such as Roku, Google, YouTube, Facebook, and online calendars. The course also delves into understanding voice assistants like Google, Siri, and Alexa, as well as using ZOOM, online banking, and shopping on Amazon. Participants will also learn best practices for passwords, logins, and safe browsing, along with how to identify and avoid online threats such as viruses, phishing, malware, ransomware, and more. The course will run on Tuesdays from October 22nd to January 28th, from 6:00-7:30 pm.
The Women Lead program, organized by the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, is a new entrepreneurship initiative focused on starting small businesses. University of Southern Maine English Language Acquisition Study
The University of Southern Maine is seeking participants for a research project focusing on adult English language acquisition in Maine.
