Just some of the MPs and Peers who have so far joined the APPG for Fair Elections

Dear John,

I'm delighted to share some exciting news with you about a major development in our campaign for a fairer democracy.

Open Britain, in partnership with Fair Vote UK, has helped establish a new All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Fair Elections.

This cross-party group of MPs and peers will focus on three key priorities:
1. Replacing First Past the Post with a proportional voting system
2. Eliminating dark money from politics
3. Countering disinformation in public debate

The APPG, which already has over 50 members from across the political spectrum, represents a significant step forward in our push for meaningful electoral reform. It will provide a vital forum within Parliament to advance the case for proportional representation and other measures to strengthen our democracy.

Key details:
* Chair: Alex Sobel MP (Labour)
* Vice-Chairs: Ellie Chowns MP (Green), Lord Balfe (Conservative), Lisa Smart MP (Liberal Democrat)
* Fair Vote UK is acting as the APPG's secretariat, with Open Britain as prime partner

Open Britain will collaborate closely with Fair Vote UK to connect parliamentary efforts with external campaigning. This partnership will help coordinate the APPG’s work with the broader movement for electoral reform, ensuring that:
* Work inside and outside Parliament is mutually reinforcing.
* Different groups in the movement use their strengths effectively.
* The overall effort to improve elections for all citizens is as focused and co-ordinated as possible.

The APPG plans to invite expert speakers, commission research, and draft policy proposals in the coming months, and a formal public launch is planned for the second half of October.

How you can help:
1. Follow the APPG on Twitter/X and share content: @FairElectionsUK
2. Share news of the APPG with friends and family interested in electoral reform
3. Keep an eye out for future updates on how you can engage with the APPG's work

This development marks an exciting new chapter in our campaign. With your continued support, we're moving closer to achieving a democracy that truly works for everyone.

Thank you for standing with us.

All the very best,

Mark Kieran
