an update from the office of wyoming governor mark gordon

Governor Requests Disaster Declaration for Wildfire Impacts

Governor Gordon has submitted his U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) request for a Secretarial disaster designation [ [link removed] ] due to impacts of wildfires that have scorched more than 629,000 acres across Wyoming to date.

In his letter to United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Governor Gordon pointed out a disproportionate amount of the area burned so far has occurred on private lands, with much of that land used for some type of agricultural production.

Fire season is not over in Wyoming, with the Short Draw fire on the Montana/Wyoming border and the Fish Creek Fire on Togwotee Pass both having burned more than 30,000 acres. The Governor has extended his Executive Order [ [link removed] ] which eases restrictions to transport loads of livestock feed and livestock.
